THE FIRST IDEAS TO BLOOM (Thumbnail sketches) Final pages..

Okay then, these are the end thumbnails to my collection on my blog, 50 in total.
This entire collection should be promising to obtaining good ideas to what the final design shall be. '42' and '43' are antenna, shape ideas and remaining three are just some more head studies. '44' is the most interesting from the page as generally for the first time you can see some sort of snout and little mandibles around the jawline, which the Giant African Millipede has.
Onto the last page, '46' catches your attention first, ay? That was another idea I had about protruding exoskeleton segments, way not a horn?.. Because Giant African Millipedes do not have them ^ ^ '47' has sort of been seen before but I thought I'd giving it another whirl. '50' looks almost Mountain Goat-esque, oh well, at least it'll put some RAM into the idea. *Smiles stupidly at a clearly, unfunny joke*
Thank you very much for following these thumbnails and further ideas shall be coming soon!

Hmmm, how would it sound? (Sound clips n' captions)

I hope this post is interesting as it was fiddly to create ^ ^ I thought I'd stretch out and achieve a broader depth to the creation of my creature then I initially predicted, I think this kind of research bonds well with the ideas generation. This type of recording is called 'Foley', the sampling of sound to create movement or effects in films, games, you name it!
Not much point explaining how I scraped the pen across a page binder or opened and closed a game case to create these sounds, relax, listen and be engrossed in the sounds of the 'Olliepede'!!!

Outcome of our 'Photoshop Phil' lesson, WEEK TWO (Missed the first week but I've caught up)

This is what I gained from the Photoshop lesson with 'Photoshop Phil'. The top image is actually the second version of my Milli-man bust, the first Photoshop file got damaged on my memory stick.. Well it was a quick idea and I love the gradient layering idea that  Phil showed me!
The second is just the first with updated scaling and the addition of colour eyes, with added character, basically. With what I've learned I can quickly see myself getting back into digital painting!

My Outcome of our MAYA lesson, WEEK TWO (Missed the first one)

> THE MAGNIFYING GLASS <
I haven't got the greatest amount to say apart from the fact that... I didn't get far. It was my first time using MAYA, ever so I was confused on practically every step of the way. But honestly, I think I can get the hang of it eventually.

> THE PEN <
Same outcome as the magnifying glass, not the greatest deal of progress but I can see how it is manageable. Okay, all I can say is I hope I can get better!

The Outcome of Our Life Drawing lesson, WEEK TWO

Fig 1.
Hmmm, I think you'll notice from last time that I have reduced the head to body ratio though proportions are too broad around the left arm and shoulders, the shading indicates that Jane's collar bone is a lot steeper then is should be *Pulls awkward face*. I like it from the right armpit down to the thighs. The right leg is pretty good, the calf muscles look good and in good relative position to the knee.. unfortunately, it looks like I've dislocated or broken Jane's left ankle, ouch, SORRY!

Fig 2.
I really like this one, we looked at tonal qualities rather then looking to sketch the entirety of Jane's body. Basically using the Gestalt  Theory, that something does have to be complete for it to make sense, the lack of outline is key for tonal densities to show and allowing our brain to figure out where to fill in the gaps. I think I did well on this one.

Fig 3.
This is by far the most difficult pose I've drawn to date but to my surprise, my favourite! Once again, using the Gestalt Theory I  mapped out the darkest sections on Jane's upper body and then moved down the right arm and onto the cushion of which I used as my perimeter. I briefly figure out the darked textures of the creased, white robe and started on the legs, Jenny really liked it so that was great! Another good lesson If not a better one then the last, hopefully the trend with keep up?

EUREKA!

I accidentally (Sort of) stumbled onto an effect that is achievable for a good eye! A Milli-man eye I mean.
HOT GLUE GUN (Too hot in the case)  + A PLASTIC CUP =

Cool huh?
The holes are the optics and the bobbled plastic is where the skin is mutating, I mean it is highly doubtful that we aren't going to end up with a set of perfectly formed optics, right? This will make a good addition to the thumbnail stage. Pretty pleased with this.
